Awesome, "changes the lockfile" vs "breaks the lockfile" is probably an important distinction. The change, as with any new dependency, would be expected. This is why I am so glad to hear @pnpm.io and @kochan.io implemented this in the safe way. Setting a great example for other implementers.

That's what I call some fine roadmapping. @kochan.io is about to redefine the pm landscape with the release of @pnpm.io v11 (you should try the RC, this major is incredible), and he is already showing off a 2.5x install perf boost for v12 🤌

@pnpm.io's experimental global virtual store is brilliant. The install performance gains are a game-changer for git flows. You get near-zero per-worktree overhead and instant installs for new worktrees as packages are already in the global store. @kochan.io can't stop making pnpm better 🤌
