it's very silly but the problem with the unity version is just that UITK doesn't have a reasonable way to properly inline images (emotes) loaded at runtime

and yes I know paid models would pretty much be able to do this in one go but I don't want to give these companies any money especially since I've yet to be paid for any of the things they stole from me

i was like "okay gluing together stream chat/auth APIs seems like a good low-agency task for AI" but these hours wrangling chatgpt has been absolutely *miserable* and it's only half working too so tomorrow I might just hand code it instead or just resume my hand coded unity version
