Like genuinely going insane over this. The movie is literally about a false utopia built upon exploiting a majority of the population. "We just missed out on it to make like 10 guys really rich" IS LITERALLY THE POINT OF THE MOVIE.

There's a post on Twitter about how Metropolis(1927) takes place in this year with a clip of the cityscape scene and the replies really reveal how few people actually know what that movie is about. There's people going "China is just like this!" or "We could have this if DOGE did it's job!"

For those who haven't seen it, the film is about the upper class building a utopia above ground while everyone else is forced to live below ground keeping the whole thing running. My favorite scene is the one portraying industrial accidents as human sacrifices.

I also saw someone go "instead of this we have all this AI shit" and there's an entire part of that film where a machine imitating a person is used to try and undermine efforts to improve the conditions that the poor work and live in.

WARNING: Big lie detected! Data centers won't be contributing anything. They just suck everything from the community, including water consumption, electricity, noise, and enormous heat coming from the stacks.
