I have a strong dislike of IRL organised religion and churches But I also love paladins and fantasy gods and often write them into my world building for dnd games and stories It’s weird writers working professionally can’t seperate that

I’m like…I think fantasy often uses “religious fanaticism” as a quick and easy villain, but also, it’s been pretty well established in WoW lore that the Light is also conformist, inflexible, and controlling, while also being a force characters have genuine spiritual experiences with.

the harassment I faced as a trans writer was not only unmerited, it went by basically unremarked on in genre spaces, even by people who knew it was happening, knew it was wrong, and could have made a real difference if they’d spoken up about it.
