In VT at around the same time we had CAT and DOG for end credits. The Caption Apparatus Trolley used the cards with Letraset, Digitally Originated Graphics was electronic. Which got used depended on the production team.

I always remember this when people are criticising TV, even aspects that have nothing to do with pres. It's easy to assume something is bad/different because the producers are incompetent, but it's at least equally likely the reason is something as dull as, say, availability issues.

It seems plausible. And it was the first time they used computer generated credits - so it’s possible this was what introduced them into full time use.

There's some Coronation Street episodes from 1986/87-ish which seem to be a mixture of electronically generated rolling credits and physical static writer/producer/director credits. In fact that's how they did things for several months.
