The big, paintbrush-type flowers of Eucalyptus pyriformis (pear-fruited mallee or Dowerin rose), flowering now at the arboretum. Although flower colour cannot be guaranteed in seed-grown plants of this species, it is genetically influenced, like eye colour in people.
