    So overall, I would say the intellectual and cultural legacy of Christianity in the long run is ambivalent. First, it was immensely negative and destructive(but with some positives), then over time it became more positive and refined. Attitudes will diverge radically on the topic of the Reformation.

    The rough edges of Christian philistinism were gradually sanded away over the span of centuries by theologians and philosophers like Boethius, Isidore of Seville, and Thomas Aquinas. Alas.. all of that came far too late to save most of what was lost and what remains is a pale shadow of what was.

    It's painful to think of how much was lost. Early Christians had a penchant for fanaticism and much of what they did is not dissimilar from how we saw ISIS behave. Indeed, I must admit the rapid turnaround from being the victims to the perpetrators of violent persecution is somewhat shocking.

    Finished another book today. This was was recommend by @colincoyote.bsky.social and I was very pleased with it, as bitter as the contents of the book are. It elaborates on some of the events mentioned in Kaldellis' grand opus on the Roman Empire relating to Christian attacks on art and science.
