D&D writeup is such fun idea! Love the wackiness of a live play session distilled down to the narrative without the six weeks of irl schedule conflicts or the neckbreaker of one friend that rips open a soda during the dramatic moments. 🤣 (Drop the name so we can all look it up?)

But as an author, 99% of the time I’m pushed to write faster, better, more when I know there’s a human reading my work. And the only way I know that is with kudos and comments and people tracking me down on other apps to smack me with love. (💕 love you guys) And that’s just my pre-workday rant 🤣

Also another specific/possibly divided AO3 take. Leave your kudos early. I understand waiting until the end of the fic but leaving kudos early can help a fic stand out in searches so more people find it. Visibility is harder than ever when AI slop is invading creative spaces so hold up your humans!

DO leave even tiny comments! Some authors feel awkward and don’t know how to reply to things like “I like this 😃” or “thanks for posting” but I can pretty much guarantee the author still felt good seeing those comments. You don’t have to write entire paragraphs (though those are really cool too)!

I recently had someone tell me why they stopped reading 10+ chapters into a fic and it was for a situation THAT DID NOT HAPPEN and they would have known that if they read the next chapter or trusted my tagging. Unless an author asks for constructive or negative feedback, just don’t. Enjoy the ride.
