    By setting the sleeves at a 45 degree angle, the jacket will look cleaner when the person has their arms down. By setting in the sleeves perpendicular to the body, you will get freer, less restrictive movement, but there will be folds near the armhole when the person is at rest.

    Workwear is typically made differently from other forms of clothing. For instance, compare this J. Mueser sport coat to this Carhartt chore coat. The Mueser sport coat has sleeves set in at an 45 degree angle; the Carhartt has sleeves perpendicular to the body.

    Every country has their version of a chore coat, but the trendy one at the moment draws from the French variety, which French laborers wore in the late 19th and early 20th century. Known in France as bleu de travail ("blue work"), it's made from a hefty pure cotton twill.

    They then produce their version with "improvements" based on that consumer feedback. I'm not convinced this leads to good designs, as most consumers don't know much about clothes. You are catering to the lowest common denominator. For instance, take this $62 chore coat.

    A couple of months ago, the YouTube channel Iron Snail did a video showing how Quince designs their clothes. Quince has technology that scrapes the internet for information to identify best-sellers at other stores and the most common complaints about those items. YT TheIronSnail
