    If the problem is too many parties, simply set an electoral threshold of 10%. With PR, it would be much harder for a fringe group to take over a major party. Plus, parties would have an added incentive to appeal to more people since every vote can increase their majority.

    There are many different ways to design a proportional representation system. Israel’s has one nation wide district, which contributes to the proliferation of parties. Any US system would need to have state-level districts, which would limit the number of parties.
