There's fun mechanics in the game like wall riding and rail grinding that present a skill challenge to overcome and could potentially reward familiarizing yourself with the game's maps but you rarely if ever get to actually do this because so much of your time is spent on generic wide straight roads

The fact that they only give you one tiny little lap in whatever track you "selected" means races feel short and inconsequential. By the time you've even registered that you're off the roads and onto A Track, the race is already over.

The fact that online prioritizes picking tracks that are in driving distance of whatever you last did means you're constantly feeling like you're seeing the same locations over and over. It makes the game feel small, like I haven't seen a lot of this game's content because it doesn't want me to

Knockout Tour is an incredibly fun mode that takes advantage of the concept of an interconnected world to create a tense and chaotic endurance test. I do not know why they decided that Grand Prix and basic online racing should also be structured like Knockout Tour even when doing individual tracks

I don't like being a hater for this game but I've gone from being indifferent towards the intermission tracks to kinda loathing them. It means you spend most of the time bunched up in a big group, going in a straight line and just kinda hoping item box RNG works for you
