I should've probably framed this better. I don't mind most of the stuff by itself but referring to it as such sometimes feels too campy (to me). like calling it a battle jacket instead of just a jacket. idk if I'm just finding random shit to get annoyed by at this point, lol

I'm something in the middle on that - it's both essential and can be very fucking cringey! There's a tight rope walk between being real and ending up like Slayer or Sabaton who are so far in their own asses that they don't know how unfarted air smells like

is it just me or does anyone find a lot of stuff about metal and hardcore a bit too campy? the need to do things a certain way, calling guitars axes, "battle" vests, all of it feels repulsive and unoriginal
