    Sorry, but this did happen. Pretend that Exiting the Vampire Castle wasn’t published if you want, but it was and there was a significant contingent of left-wing people (mostly men) who saw him as a daring, truth-to-power renegade and their trust was exploited accordingly.

    Making trans girls and women into the subjects rather than the invisible objects of debate is a whole-of-society push beyond a single election. And we cannot allow our enemies' rhetoric that calls trans girls "biological males" to go unchallenged. They have high school bio, we have advanced biology.

    (The elephant in the room here is that too many median voter-level cis people have an instinctive negative reaction to trans women who have any "non-passing" features. Yes, this is misogyny. But we aren't ready for that conversation yet...)
