I absolutely think it’s worth having people who *have had* a variety of life experience in a legislature. But you can have that and not act like being a skilled legislator is bad.

And understanding what information it’s valuable to get from advocates/lobbyists, versus what information you’re better off getting from your own research staff. And knowing how to create compromise legislation that can pass. These are skills, as in any job.

I don’t really think “not a politician” should be a selling point for a candidate. The job is politician. I want to elect someone who understands that job and is good at it and also is not a dirtbag. We have seen how catastrophic it is to make “not a politician” the priority over “not a dirtbag.”

They think of us the way factory egg farmers think about chickens - how little space, food, air, and water can they give us and still get eggs? And then what's the most efficient way to dispose of us once we stop producing eggs?
