I also hate my kids Chromebooks. They seem like a huge distraction in the classroom too. Computers being a classroom you go to twice a week worked just fine to prepare Millennials for the world. There is no need for these kids to be on screens all day

Same. As a parent of an ADHD kid who polices screen time religiously, that Chromebook is the bane of my existence. When I've complained to the school about it, I've gotten back, "Well, the Chromebook is also what enables a lot of his accommodations." 🙄

In fairness, I should note that I belong to a parent group that discussed tech use in schools. But even if I didn’t have that window into things, it is clear that public sentiment is growing more critical. What a time to be all god-like about your nice but necessary tech.

This looks to be primarily a story about the rush to implement AI without necessary safeguards and parental controls. But even that shows how much Google misunderstands the state of play. I hope they double down. Show people that they aren’t on students’ side. Maybe we can get better regulation.
