    And I'm working with folk to MAKE tools for writers and creators to take control of their stuff. Because yeah, there's a lot of shit going on out there, but we might as well claim our own spaces and help others do the same. At least that way, we're helping give a chance for people like us to remain.

    I don't have The Answer for you, I can just tell you what I'm doing, for myself and my own well-being: I'm hanging out with friends and talking about fic and finding joy in creating. I'm blocking liberally and refusing to engage with anyone who won't offer the courtesy of treating me as a person.

    Does it suck that it is publicly and loudly acceptable to be such a dick to strangers who did nothing to you except not create tailored to your personal preferences? Kinda, yeah. But if endless arguing and screaming could fix it, twitter wouldn't be... Well, twitter.

    I don't have a particular solution beyond curating your spaces, sadly. I'm here and not on twitter because the rate of death threats and other violent language is so much lower and blocking goes so much further. I curate my feeds and don't over extend good faith to people who don't know how to act.

    So you can understand the bewilderment and a little sadness in seeing the shift towards competing about numbers and policing what other writers do, and then having readers be super toxic and rude because they don't see you as a person, they see you as a less cooperative chatgpt.
