Shima becomes a fixture of your routine. You adjust your patterns to accommodate her presence. No. That’s the wrong word. To welcome her presence. Shima, you find out, is significantly younger than you.
Ver postShe is, in fact, in college, studying sociology and history, with a focus on the scars the last war. She has a small apartment she shares with two other students, but they treat the freedom as an excuse for fun and frivolity, which is detrimental to Shima, who needs good grades to stay in school.
Ver postYou realize you’ve seen her studying at work, after her shift, in a quiet spot at the bar. But work has its own problems. You don’t have much space, but you do have both space and quiet. And you find that the thoughts of Her are less pressing and intrusive when Shima is around. A win-win.
Ver postSo she comes over to study. At first, just when you’re home. You usually read, mostly non-fiction about recent events. Doctor Schuster said it might be helpful to start rebuilding your memories, whatever of them were still floating around in there.
Ver postThat's just as easy to do with Shima there as it is to do alone. After all, you trust Shima. More than Doctor Schuster, maybe. At least to show the reality of your shattered, fraying self to. Since she is over most nights, you increase your food budget and cooking plans.
