    I don't really know if that's where the story is headed, but I think it's interesting to think about especially when you take Kris needing the SOUL as allegorical for disability. Random pains, emotional nadirs, and the like will often lead one to wish they could have someone else handle it all

    No one can live your life for you, but what if you tried? You could either be replaced by someone else physically in the world occupying the very spot you stand so you no longer have to responsible for your life or you can be controlled by a higher power who may or may not care about you.

    If you think about it, the vessel we make at the start of Deltarune and we the player are kind of each other's counterparts in the sense that both are potentially ways of offloading responsibility. The Vessel feels like a changeling who could live Kris' life for them, and we do the same via the SOUL
