Ben Affleck's Holden McNeil goatee‘s the answer but I'm not sure what the question is. Politics. Humor. Great at @ replies, not great at regular posts.

I think “nerd culture” would have manifested as something else. But Picard brought acting quality and humanity to the series— as did the writers and the other actors. Star trek transformed from “fun escapism” to “art that covers the broad complex emotions of human experience.” Good art does this.
Ver postI feel like we don't have modern nerd culture (and Star Trek doesn't survive) without Patrick Stewart. Before TNG, it seemed like the original series was remembered as campy 60s fun, almost like Adam West Batman. Then he's cast as Picard & the acting goes from 0 to 100. And the show was legit GOOD.
Ver postPrimary results: Peltola (49.5%), Sullivan (41.4%), Sullivan, Jr. (2.5%), Leslie (1.1%), so the second argument is pretty flimsy.
Ver postI have heard 2 flimsy arguments. 1. As you say some % will only vote for 1 candidate 2. Alaska only allows 4 spots on the general and this kept others out of those spots.
