    God is *the* patriarch. God is properly referred to only as He/Him/His, not because they are stupid or don't understand enough about Hebrew or Greek or textual traditions but because only a He could deserve to have power and hurt people (for the same reason, to them Satan can have any pronouns)

    there are other ways to understand the God of the Hebrew and Christian Bibles but when conservatives do this little song and dance, they mean it in this very simple way that is actually perfectly logically consistent "I worship the God who is powerful enough to hurt people, and I aspire to that"
