    Patrick Healy has been doing an awful lot of PR for the New York Times politics section lately, after the Times spent the last 10 years going out of its way to ignore criticism from the left. What that tells me is that the criticism is working. Something they are seeing internally has them spooked

    The polling evidence does not suggest Minnesota is different from the rest of the US. In 6 races where there is data, a median of 7 points' swing toward Democrats from 2024. Compare with Senate races nationwide, the second graph. Can't really distinguish.

    in the 40s the new and exciting music (bebop) was literally impossible to hear unless you were physically in specific clubs until 46/47, while the postwar explosion of regional labels (only possible due to the vinyl format) was the secret engine underneath rock & roll's rapid adoption in the 1950s
