    Like we have concrete medical and legal needs, a need to be protected from the regimes of sex that seek to exclude and marginalize us from public life and a recognition of the basic truth that transitioning fundamentally alters your embodiment and thus your ability to move through a sexed world.

    And like I hope people realize that the rigid barriers to traversing an exhaustive, mutually exclusive binary sociopolitical reality affects non-binary people just the same, and that the excessive monitoring of people's sex is one of the things we absolutely need to address.

    But we can't articulate our problems without first putting forward that we do materially change sex in a way the presumption (and enforcement) of its immutability absolutely disallows and that results in us falling through the cracks and experiencing high rates of ostracism and violence.

    No, I don't think that "we do change sex" will magically fix everything currently wrong with trans advocacy and cis receptiveness to trans issues, but we do need a more affirmative articulation of trans existence than "Please Respect Our Right to Play Dress-Up" which is the current understanding.
