    🤭 Well, but seriously…that might tell us something about where these fragments were NOT still living in the 10th century. We wouldn't expect Aldred to gloss Tarsians, but we might expect him to gloss James. I mean, why not? Unless that copy was already broken up, dispersed, reused, etc.

    We also noted the similarity of the red capitals used for the INCIPIT on the James leaf to incipits/explicits for the Lindisfarne Gospels capitula. Here's the James incipit with a detail from LG 131v, which we didn't have room to reproduce in our note.
