what gets me too is when u download fics from ao3 it like… completely includes credit… like people r comparing it to reposting fanart w/o credit but if someone is sharing ur fic it has ur @ ?

this discourse has made me so tired 😭 fandom has always been about community and before ao3, people would often share fanfic via email and stuff. it's nothing new!! as a writer myself, ao3 makes it very clear that people can download your stuff so!! let's calm down a bit

this ao3 discourse is so funny. yes u can live without fics for a couple weeks. no u arent evil for downloading fics off an archive with a download button. yes its ok to want engagement. no u shouldnt be crashing out bc ur fics are being downloaded and shared (within reason). can we all move on 🩷

the whole readers vs authors shit is so corny too like this isnt world war 3. its about fanfiction posted publicly on an archive. why are some of u talking like a super villain.
