Generating software using LLMs is absolutely not more economically viable. It does not lead to more efficient development teams and, nor meaningfully reduce costs. It takes enough effort to correct the LLM's mistakes that the time saved generating the code is negligible. No business problem solved.

It is impossible to be a software developer by trade AND be someone who prompts LLMs professionally. You are no longer developing software. You are babysitting (poorly, if your account is accurate) the LLM's software development. Software development is a craft and you are no longer doing it.

eugh - the devs where I work are explicitly not reading any code anymore, they just ask Claude for a summary if you ever ask them what something does. Is it right? They don't care, and get very arsey if you ask them to actually validate it

The old way was creating just enough code. As each line of code brought with it a maintenance cost. Now that code cost less the flood gates open up. "Do we really need this" is replaced by "Done". Not necessarily progress. Reliance on AI-vendors pricing and reduced comprehension in same category yes

No one doubts certain workers are productive at work, if that helps. We just know we aren't going to get paid more for this productivity and in fact will probably get less money and more surveillance in return.
