    People have asked me how I feel about nominating Russell Brand a “hero” in 2014. I feel very bad about it. It must have piled on the pain for his victims. I apologise to them. Though there was nothing published about his crimes at the time, I should have read the signs better. I failed to do so.

    This is, incidentally, the precise mistake Dems made with regards to Clarence Thomas for years. If they’d said (correctly) that his huge ethical breaches necessitated his resignation, each subsequent revelation - which went on for YEARS - would have made their demand look more prescient and urgent.

    If you visit the British Library you will see it is chock full of people making use of a free space to work, learn and research. It’s an incubator of scholarship. London already has plenty of fancy commercial co-working spaces but nothing else like the BL. www.megaphone.org.uk/petitions/st...
