It’s not only in poor taste, it’s actively antisemitic for non-Jews to decide they get to call the shots on who is an embarrassment to the Jewish people. It’s no different from labeling a person of a minority “one of the good ones,” or “a credit to your race”’which implies others are not.

Seen some debate over the past couple of days on who should/shouldn’t use Yiddish. As a Jewish New Yorker from a mixed-faith home, I feel that certain Yiddish words (eg, mensch) are now loanwords into the New York dialect of American English. I wouldn’t police New Yorkers using them. HOWEVER,

There is something WILDLY FUCKED UP about non-Jews using “a shanda fur die goyim.” That’s…not for you to decide. How dare you presume you’re the arbiter of that if you’re not Jewish? WE get to decide who shames us in front of you. It baffles me that anyone non-Jewish would think this is appropriate.

Yeah, this is a good example of how the "that's the way it works" crowd has no goddamn clue how the American political system actually works. The Dems are notorious for refusing to discipline their more openly bigoted members and will even actively back them against intraparty challenges.
