    How any given player responded to Dawntrail is a pretty good litmus test for how THAT player wants the game to go forward; the thing is, the result of that test is very different depending on who you ask.

    And for that reason alone I'm not really convinced there was a "right" answer. I don't agree that it should have been world-ending stakes from the minute go right after Endwalker, and I also don't agree that a leisurely vacation expac would have satisfied most players and kept them on board.

    The thing is, even in the most generous interpretation, I don't really agree that the "problem" with DT (even assuming there was one big problem) was in the front half. While there are certainly fans who were bored by the Rite of Succession, I've seen just as many who preferred it to the back half.

    There is a potentially more generous interpretation where Yoshi-P might have meant something more like "We focused on establishing the setting to the extent that we waited too long to raise the stakes," and while that never bothered me I can see it as a reasonable takeaway.
