    Yeah! The idea is that you cut down each span to where it only contains data needed to validate the sampling, then I write it to storage with a Hive-style partition over the timestamp. Since this would go away once I'm happy with the sampling, I'm fine not having a "fast" index to check my work.

    I’m sampling at the collector level. It also gets used to pull in system logs, so it felt easier to have one consistent place to tune all telemetry versus relying on the SDKs. Part of the off-line processing lets me go and generate a new configuration that has the distribution I need.
