    A data center near-ish to me is caught in one of these, and it will have diesel generators. I looked up who will occupy it, and it’s a major data provider for… the NYSE. Like yeah it’s gotta have backup power to not totally fuck the global economy in one of our unexplained regional blackouts

    it would be (may end up being??) very cool if the general vibe of “ai datacenters must be banned” thought shifts to “ai datacenters must come with mass investment into renewable energy.” there’s a real opportunity here coming up to start really pushing on that buildout
