if anything people who migrate for work are less likely to use benefits than the general population. It's a made up problem. If you get ILR you should have the rights of a permanent resident; receding on rights will not help us.

it's the rhetoric used by government to justify the cruel-for-nothing policy. It requires you to imagine workers will all of a sudden claim benefits as soon as they get permanent residence. there's no evidence for this.

I was gonna sign this but then I can't agree with this: "we support waiting up to 10 years for access to public funds ... while retaining the 5-year ILR route". this is giving up to the whole false reasoning that permanent residents are burden on public money. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/77...

the good thing is that the brilliant anti-racist Labour MPs now all have a great chance to put their money where their mouth is, looking forward to Bridget Philippson et al demanding that Labour councils condemn the immigration changes etc.
