    What strikes me, as a decade older, is how the UK politicos declined in intelligence/patriotism. If you think of someone eg Carrington resigning over the Falklands. The collapse of ethical or political ethos belief began post Cold War. Perhaps it was inevitable as existentialism collapsed?
