    I think parents' anxiety about paying for their kid's college one day has led them to figure their kid will simply have to become so good at soccer (or whatever) that they'll get a sports scholarship, so every game feels like the kid's future is on the line. So they yell at a kid ref.

    I'm spending my afternoon sitting through two soccer youth soccer games that my 14-year-old kid isn't even playing in, because he's a ref, and every weekend a parent or coach acts like an absolute jackass to him. Last weekend, a parent said he'd "deal with" him "after the game." What the hell?
