Speaking of binders, I love Sennellier oil paints. They use safflower oil rather than the more traditional linseed and it smells much more pleasant and has such a wonderful creamy texture.

It’s frustrating to see vids and comments like that from even actual oil painters. It’s the same pigments as in acrylics and watercolours, mixed in a binder, usually linseed oil. The oils themselves aren’t toxic so it’s not inherently more dangerous. It’s just most painters ALSO use toxic chemicals

Also you can use regular dish soap or a specific soap for paint brushes for cleaning. Try to get most of the paint out on a paper towel then clean the rest with just soap and water.

It is possible to paint with only oil paint and medium, usually linseed oil, in which case you’re fine so long as you don’t lick your paintbrush or something. You may still want some ventilation for the oil smell: but it’s just smell and no more toxic than leaving vegetable oil uncovered.
