    But your point on estates making wood available to people who live within an Estate’s footprint is a fair one… …as long as any costs (if cutting/transport/labour are needed) are covered and a sensible & reasonable amount of fallen wood is left for Nature (we try to leave a third or more in situ).

    The gravity-fed (very) old Oil Rayburn and the wood burners here were life-savers yet again when we lost power from Storm Boelo. Power cuts often happens here in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Nicola … so any politician telling me to get rid of wood burners will not get a very polite answer.

    Finely distilled - we are dreading our oil bill, a balance between belligerence and need, a wood stove the thing that helps eek out the oil, but heats only a few rooms, a rural necessity rather than middle class luxury.
