i don't know how to stop them doing it, i'm sure there's some kind of way but it's probably difficult. eventually brian just cut a hole in the mudroom floor and put in a trapdoor so he can go excavate for whatever horrible thing is emanating from the heating registers

at least once every fall and sometimes more than that brian has to go down there and pull out a mummified raccoon or possum or rat or once a stray cat. they LOVE to go down there and die and rot and turn green and liquify and make my house reek like corpses. they do it with glee

little and medium size animals fucking love to dig down underneath our house to the area near the furnace where it's nice and warm and then die for whatever reason right in front of the air intake. it is their most treasured hope to die in the air intake of my furnace
