    There was also a discussion about "coffin corner" which on a jet like that could have been very possible. That flight configuration/altitude/weather/temperature where the mach max and stall speeds are within a hair's breadth of one another and you can basically stall in turbulence.

    I mean, they've got radar onboard but presumably it did what many radars do when encountering extreme cell density, it either blotted it out as dark (which can look like clear weather) or played it down as not as severe as it really was. Either way, the precipitation was likely what got them.

    Literally light clear ice to a brick in under 90 seconds. Rain started to fall and it was game over. From FL350 to ground in another 90. I don't know if their radar was lying to them, they thought they were high enough or what, but the pilot was saying the Lord's Prayer so he knew it was done.

    Just listened to the recording from the Lear60 crash in FL today. That was fucking haunting. Copilot keyed the mic. A lot. You heard a lot of their last seconds and none of it was good. They took that plane right into a red cell and froze over so fast there was no recovery.
