As a high school computer science teacher (that teaches a 4 year Comp Sci high school curriculum), I'm qualified to answer this. It's not pretty. First, there is no centralized US Computer Science Curriculum. There's not even a very good way to become a CS teacher.

As far as I know, in the state of Oregon, there isn't a University that offers a CS Education degree. I'm not sure how many places there are in the country that offer that. I teach CS because I worked as a Data Analyst for a couple years before getting a math teaching license.

ECS was created to bridge the tech gap - to give all students, no matter their tech background, a chance to learn CS - it was intentionally inclusive and was created with an idea of equity and inclusion - current naughty words in America. I buy in to that 100%. It's on of my strengths as a teacher.

The new ECS curriculum approaches gAI in a way that shows kids some of it, while teaching most of its hazards. It is intended to show the danger of gAI. It is by far the most anti-AI curriculum I have found in the wild. I still don't think it goes far enough, but it's the best I see in OR.
