I do think some level of communicating "slop isn't welcome" would have some amount of effect even if it is hard to enforce. I don't think you should have to let Epic run a "vibe coded game jam" on your platform unless they are paying you so much money it's basically subsidizing the platform.

For itch, this is specifically challenging. People expect to be able to make a new itch account and immediately post a game because that's the niche that itch fulfills in the game distribution ecosystem; it's a venue for new developers, jam participants, students, etc.

I think ultimately a lot of the problem of moderating AI slop on a platform like itch becomes not a product-level problem but an account-level problem, ie 1. how do you ban spammers, 2. how do you prevent large numbers of new spammers from signing on

I am undeterred. I have made a new order, this time Ontario's own Pizza Pizza (since I know that won't close on me!) My driver has it and is coming my way. 🙏 (And I had time to hot tub while I waited!)
