Unpopular take perhaps but I just finished reading a very popular book that I didn’t like at all and instead of giving it a bad review on Goodreads, I just…won’t. Unless it’s terribly written by someone with tons of money, I do not have it in me to shit on the work of other writers
Voir le postIf I don’t like a book, I just won’t talk about it. You published a book and put it out in the world - good for you! Between the publishing world and AI, it’s so cutthroat that I just can’t. I will critique the things I love, but you’ll know I love them
Voir le postI also am well aware that readers and critics can and should do what they feel call to do - that’s not for me to have an opinion on. This is just my own personal writerly decision, the world being what it is
Voir le postI finally read Cormorant, a poetry collection by Elisa Carlsen that @sallyfisherprice.bsky.social pointed out to me at Always Here Books. It's devastating and the essay at the end should be required reading about how the modern world creates damage. www.unsolicitedpress.com/shop/p/cormo...
Voir le postThe last stuff I'll publish as the founder, dreamer & doer of Stanchion comes out this month: 2 awesome chapbooks, so different & clever, and Issue 25 of Stanchion Magazine, full circle return to the start: b&w, staple-bound, uncoated paper, $5. It's been quite the journey. 😿
