Chuck recommended a new machine, so I’ll give advice about purchasing used. You can find machines at thrift stores for <$200. If you go that route, make sure you can find the manual online by searching for the machine’s make and model. If you want to quilt, make sure it will take a quilters foot!

I would buy a used (newer) or new Janome as a reliable machine for quilting. Janome have an excellent reputation for being reliable and sewing consistent stitches. I’ve had three in the last 38 years, all still work fine, and love the most recent one with a knee lift and thread cutter.

There might be a tiny little house up for renting and I'm going to look at it Tuesday. I might also be a bit excited about that. Aaahhh!! A house! 😱😭😍🏡
