Good point! Although I wonder how many people doing black hole thermodynamics really think of those properties as "fundamental". I was mostly thinking in terms of 2nd Law arguments and the strained analogies to other sorts of entropies (entanglement, etc.).

I find it fascinating that even though the original variables from classical thermodynamics (temperature, heat, entropy) are now clearly defined/explained in terms of more fundamental quantities, physicists still sometimes treat entropy (but never the others!) as still somehow being fundamental.
