People will construct wild mythology around someone they abused when desperate to avoid accountability. The more wild, the more they care about winning than fairness. The tactics are always the same. Dehumanize. Illegitimize. Overdramatize. Strawman. Reform the narrative. Exaggerate. Fabricate.

They'll share words you said, sure, but carefully, and never what built up to it. "They were neglectful, never left the house, didn't want me to touch them, snapped easily." Never the part about how they abused, shamed and prodded you in the weeks, months, years leading up to that treatment.

It's also good to watch out for people who enjoy the "drama". If they don't ask how you're feeling/how they can help, but will make you focus on what others are saying, They don't care about your healing, they want entertainment.
