    There’s this narrative that’s built up that Dems are selling out trans people, and while I understand why the fear is there and the vigilance towards anyone whose resolve appears to be faltering, the narrative is so far not correct at all. Spreading it is doing considerable harm.

    I am ALL FOR criticizing Dems when they fail - which is often - but the flip side of that is you need to acknowledge when they succeed. Despite understandable fears, they have consistently stood in the way of Trump’s attacks on trans people, in substantive ways. They deserve credit for it.

    Anyway I think it turns out there is not some easily embraced set of policy and political ideas that will magically make you popular. Politicians (and voters!) are mostly fumbling around to find stuff that both they and voters can accept, and often screwing up in the process.
