    Went to Casimiros to try their pan de muerto, a collaboration between the restaurant and Lagniappe Bakery. This dramatic beauty is filled with chocolate cremeux and satsuma marigold jam and coated with totomoxtle sugar (black sugared ash from corn husks)

    A minced oath is a polite swap for a swear or a blasphemy (like “gosh” for “God”) and the best one I’ve come across is from Palestinian Arabic, where yifḍaḥ ḥarīmak (“may your womenfolk be dishonoured”) becomes yifḍaḥ ḥarīšak (“may your caterpillar be dishonoured”). * read on for more (a thread)…
