Voir le postMach tuck is a well documented aeronautical phenomenon going back to WW2. It has claimed many lives. If that turns out to be the case (we may never know), then it's possible that a qualified pilot in a well-maintained aircraft would have ended up in the same situation.
Voir le postMy educated guess would be that the plane experienced Mach tuck, and the resulting excess forces on the horizontal stabilizer caused it to fail, which would have prevented any hope of recovery.
