My unpopular opinion is that the sector’s management is not appalling (with a handful of notable exceptions, eg Dundee, Bolton/Greater Manchester). They’ve have handled this in an orderly way with redundancies and closures. In an industry with this downturn there’d have been more bankruptcies.

There are huge layoffs, across almost the whole sector, but the government is determined to cut their export earnings further and take a slice out of them - when that is the main subsidy for the deficit on home students.
Voir le postThe British were meant to be understated, not given to overt shows of emotion and always adhering to conservative principles (small C). Now every lamp post in my area has a huge poppy adorning it. As if somehow the sheer acreage of poppies increases their meaning (it does not).
