Hear me out but VW should import these to Europe along with the whole budget Jetta brand. Sell for £20/€24k euro, about double their China price. No frills (well, for China) with 52kwh battery and 450km WLPT range (279 miles). For taxi and non-taxi use. No direct competition with VW products.
