I've always hoped for one of these little beauties on the #AlstonReservoirs #Longridge patch. It's only taken 20 years! Cracking male #SnowBunting tucking into seeds on the no.1 reservoir bank for an hour this morning before it departed east. Rock Pipit and 39 Whoopers too. 🌟 Quality. #LancsBirding

Much better views in the garden today. And ridiculously confiding, coming within a couple of feet of me whenever I clicked my tongue at it. Dusky Phwoarbler.

For my #superseabirdsunday here's a replica of a Great Auk. The last one of these was "collected" in 1832 on Papa Westray. It was known by the islanders as "King Auk". His "Queen" had been stoned while on a nest two years previously. The last of all of them was killed in Iceland in 1844.
