    Unity really just isn't a video games company, the other parts of the business are what they care about, so really this may very well be a "divorce" from both sides once the acquisition goes through. I can't imagine much of this $25b valuation is accounting for licensing the engine to game studios.

    idk wtf happens with bigger games though, because Unreal is also shooting itself in the dick and balls repeatedly and I have very little faith in its future unless something changes drastically at epic

    I think in a couple of years Unity will be a niche engine used maybe by a handful of studios that are very deep into a specific pipeline they built with it. Godot and some other tools like Bevy will cover the gap in small indie.
